back from england.

purpose of the trip was to see ant and katy get married. highlights of the wedding included:
-e.i.r.u.n and ant's brother looking shockingly similar in their wedding party attire, and the rest of us (ant's friends) having an informal contest to get the best photo of them standing near each other. e.i.r.u.n knew what we were up to and tried to foil our plot.
-the wedding hats. thank goodness weddings are an excuse to wear extrodinarily silly hats. well, that and the kentucky derby.
-karl actually dancing with me at the reception. i had resigned myself to dancing with rich and pete (which is not bad, even though i just made it sound that way), but then someone came up and told me that nicky had asked karl to dance and he'd said the only one he'd dance with was me (awwwwww), so i ran over to grab him before he changed his mind. had a dance, then ant, who was dancing with jackie, came over and forced karl to change partners, thus making karl dance with someone other than me. i got him back for the 3rd dance. -claire getting trashed and being hilariously funny about seymour butts. when she first heard about the porn star she thought seymour butts was really his name, and only later found out that his name is actually adam or something. she went on and on about it on the bus on the way back to the hotel and the whole tirade was caught on video.

the other highlight of the trip was seeing karl's niece isabel. she's about a year and a half old now, and is just starting to talk.

in other news, we returned to find the floors of our new house done (refinished). they look amazing. they're heart pine, and had been horrible. the polyurethane was peeling, and somewhere along the way someone had painted the boards in some of the rooms brown, and that was coming off too, and last time the house was painted no one had put tarps down so there were splashes of cream paint all over. now, they are smooth and clean and glowing red. so lovely i hesitate to put any furniture on them. so now we can start moving in!
