so of course the first thing my mom notices when we get home on friday is my chin hickey. (oh yeah, here's a picture.) i started off by not knowing how i got it, gosh darn it, but then i thought that it might have been at the barn the other day when katie, the horsebitch i've been riding lately, head-butted me in the chin. thought nothing of it at the time, but... anyway, i actually almost believed it myself, because though katie has not technically head-butted me in the chin, she has head-butted me other places (e.g. ribs), so it's not out of the realm of possibility that she would get me in the chin.

we went to see the core. we only went because it was cold and rainy and we needed something to do and we've already seen bend it like beckham twice and i couldn't stomach "malibu's most wanted" or "bringing down the house" or whatever else was playing. as expected, there was very little in the way of realistic science. and the plot is basically the same as armageddon: imminent catastrophic disaster for earth, but no worries because a crack team of astronauts, geophysicists, computer hackers will save the planet. throughout, you have the classic themes of the estranged colleagues forgiving each other, the arrogent genius realizing there are more important things, and the feisty youngster getting her wings. it had one bright spot, and that was that they refrained from having a love story between the hilary swank character and the aaron eckhart character.

easter brunch was lovely, as usual. all of the "bridge ladies" were there, as well as some spouses and children. after brunch we saw the changing of the guard at arlington national cemetary. petting the dog, napping in the hammock, eating easter chocolate (dove dark!), blah blah blah.
