rachel rant
godDAMN that rachel. so my quartet is scheduled to have rehearsal on mondays at 6. we have a recital coming up (we're playing the first movement of smetana's quartet #1 in e minor ("from my life")) in 2 weeks. the piece is in okay shape, but not great (e.g. we're aiming for a tempo of 144 and we're currently dragging 120).
rachel, the violist, sent out a message this morning saying that she could only stay an hour tonight because she's got a lot of work/studying to do. [it's not like we often go over an hour, though, because either rachel or nabih always has something to do.] whatever. <sarcasm>it's not like we NEED more than an hour of rehearsal per week or anything. </sarcasm> a little later, she sent out a note saying that, as she's ill, and feeling worse, and has 3 finals this week, she's decided that she can't come to rehearsal tonight, but that she's free either wednesday or friday evening. i wrote (but didn't send) a very nasty note to her expressing how very much i didn't appreciate her frequent absences from rehearsals (we are, after all, a quartet, and every member is therefore important) and her presumptuousness that she can just unilaterally decide that reheasal is cancelled for tonight and force us all to rearrange our schedules for later in the week when it was HER who didn't manage her life well enough to be available to rehearse tonight.
bitch.
i didn't send the very pointed note, but i did send a note to the whole quartet saying: "since it's a waste of time for us to rehearse if rachel is going to be absent again, i propose that nabih and alex use tonight to rehearse their stuff on their own..." i think that was pointed enough, yah?
