running out of time

running out of time

i've been running almost every day for the past week, and have been trying to eat better. still feeling mighty fat, though. i suppose it takes time, and i should just keep on plugging away, and i'll start to see some results soon.

i spent the weekend in moving activities. saturday, helped move sarah and jennifer. well, really, all that was required was to put boxes into the truck. they had both done a bang-up job of neatly putting everything into boxes and generally being very organized. sunday, i went down to john's house and started packing in earnest. packed up most of my books and bunches of other stuff into 8 or 9 boxes, all of which are very heavy. i've still got the bedroom (stuff in dresser, some clothes, bed linens) to do, plus the odds and ends in my desk drawers, and the dishes and whatnot in the kitchen. god it's horrible. packing up that stuff. living there was really nice, and i miss john, and that was my home for 3 years. moving into this new place by myself is scary. will i end up back with john just because i can't stand being on my own anymore? will i find the strength to go it on my own, just to end up old and alone?

alright. enough. i'm trying to get things together to move, and for my trip. i fear that i am woefully underprepared for this trip. i've got to go by ems to get a new tent pole for laura's tent. i've got to figure out what i'm going to eat and drink on the road. i've got to figure out where the hell i'm going to camp each night. the national park places look good, but they're all so damn expensive. i can't afford $10/night! i'm a graduate student, for heaven's sake!

saw the x-men movie yesterday with john. it was good fun. hugh jackman, who played wolverine, is mighty fine. 7Ms, i'm thinking. mm mm mm mm mm mmm MMM. i never read the comic book, but i did watch the cartoon, and loved it. so the movie was fun.

i wonder about some things, though. can storm only use her powers outside? or when exposed to outside air? there were some occasions when there was a delay before she powered up, where i thought she should have been able to just shoot some lightning bolts or something, and save herself some grief. i quite enjoy the wide variety of powers that mutants seem to have. some are better than others (xavier's telepathy and jean grey's telekinesis top that list), some must have been mighty dangerous before the mutant learned to control them (e.g. cyclops'), some just suck for the "owner" (like rogue not being able to touch anyone--makes for an isolated life). rebecca romijn-stamos is looking mighty fine as mystique the chameleon, stories of blue vomit notwithstanding, and i'm glad they only gave her the one line ("people like you are the reason i hated school as a child"). pretty face, but not much of an actress, RR-S. last comment: magneto is a stupid name.
