every so often, karl will surprise me with a britishism that i didn't previously know. and i know a lot of them, having known him for over 2 years now. here are the latest:
- deck
- as in "let's have a deck (at that)" or just "deckers": look, as in "have a look"
- have it off
- as in "to have it off" or "let's have it off" or "i want to have it off with you": to have sex. connotation is more like "screw"
- hey up our [name]
- as in "hey up our Mike," pronounced "'ey up ahr Mike": hi there. "our" [name] generally refers to a member of one's own family, as in "that's our mike." a northern english thing.
- stalagmights, stalactights
- not a different definition, but a different pronunciation. brits say "STALagmights" and "STALactights" with the accent on the first syllable.
in other news, odd todd is funny. though you all have probably seen this years ago. so sue me.
