sumo _______

in celebration of the beginning of the 2002 winter olympics, i present you with a list of sports that would be funnier if the competitors were sumo wrestlers. disclaimer #1: not all of these sports are actually part of the winter olympics. deal. disclaimer #2: i know that sumo wrestling is a respected, honored sport in japan, and that sumo wrestlers are highly trained athletes. but still.

in no particular order:
sumo figure skating
sumo luge (widen the track!)
sumo diving (judged by water displaced, maybe?)
sumo ice hockey (the goalie wouldn't have to move at all!)
sumo ski jumping (not so much hang time)
sumo water skiing
sumo synchronized swimming
