movie night, take 1

karl and i arranged to have movie night at his house, since his house is home to the glorious 36-inch hdtv with dvd player and my house shamefully fosters the 13-inch tv/vcr combo.

weekly movie nights start tonight, with the showing of the hudsucker proxy if he can find it to rent on dvd, which i think is unlikely. back up movie will be brazil, which he owns (or will today, after he buys it used off upenn.forsale). so, no one knows what movie mood they should be in, whether it be bouncytiggerfun for hudsucker or 1984andahalf for brazil. ah well, keep people on their toes.

i've gotten a couple of definite can't-be-theres for people out of town or going to the opera or something. i haven't gotten any definite wouldn't-miss-its, so i don't know if anyone's actually going to show up or not. hmph.

in other news, i got the grant sent off on friday (the 5th). left it in the capable hands (slot) of the fedex box and went on my merry way. i think it's good, but of course i've lost all ability to judge my own writing after the whole major areas horror. i was too wussy to ask j.t. on friday what he thought my chances were. oh well. at least it's done.
