apropos of nothing

so i was out for my morning run the other day (tuesday, i think. 3 april.) actually i was done with the run and was walking to cool down. anyway, i fell into step with a man just coming out of his house.
man: how'r you doin?
me: what?
man: how'r you doin?
me: uh, fine thanks.
man: so, are you a capricorn?
[pause]
me: no, a cancer.
man: diametrically opposed. makes sense.
