early relationship angst

early relationship angst

it's been almost a week since i saw martin. i want to see him again. can i just write to him and say that? i need your opinions. here's the scoop:

you can read about our first date here. since then, we've exchanged emails (2 each) that have been short and casual. the first ones mentioned having had a good time, and the prospect of seeing each other again. the second ones were more small-talk-y. i'd like to get to know him better, maybe even have an actual relationship. to this end, i don't necessarily think that him staying over on the first date was the best idea ever (any thoughts?), not that it wasn't REALLY fun.

so, should i just email him and tell him that i'd like to see him again, soon? as is "martin, i know you're busy with moving and getting things straightened out with your new job, but i'd love to see you again. wonder if i could buy you dinner sometime this week/weekend?"

okay. hello. that's totally what i should do, isn't it? that sounded totally sane and normal, and not at all like i'm a sex-crazed woman just looking for a good lay. cuz i'm not. just looking for a good lay, that is. i mean, good lays are nice and all, but i'm starting to tire of this never-ending parade of dates. [man, if my low-esteem highschool self could have known that i'd one day write that sentence...] i'd actually like to have a relationship. i miss the emotional closeness that comes with an actual *boyfriend*, and not just a lover.

so, to you one, maybe two, men out there who read this, should i just ask? if it were *me* who'd gotten all hot and bothered and slept with a first date (oh wait, it WAS me), i'd want to get that note--know that the other person was interested in perhaps actually getting to know me, and not just how loud i scream when i cum. and i'm a firm believer that men and women aren't that different when it comes to this (and loads of other things, too), so martin would probably like such a note too, n'est-ce pas?

it's this kind of shit that people are referring to when they say they don't want "headgames" in a new relationship, isn't it?
