little nothings

okay, can you totally tell i'm procrastinating? two entries in one day? and one yesterday? if i wrote as much on my experiment proposal as i wrote here, i'd have my fucking ph.d. already. whatever. some random thoughts:

i love coffee, and i just went downstairs to 'bucks to get a cup (rather, a vat), but it definitely does sumthin funnee to my insides--methinks the ol' digestive tract would rather me get more sleep and drink less coffee.

'sup with diaryland only allowing ten characters for the name of each individual page? it's screwing with my naming system.

laura and i are going to get free hiv tests tomorrow. bleh bleh bleh.

music is coming back into my life: i'm playing a flute/cello/organ trio (some vivaldi something-or-other) with misha and the organist at her church (i'm the cellist, btw) on sunday. not that we've rehearsed with the organist, and only rehearsed with each other like twice, but i'm sure it'll be fine. the audience at her church isn't going to have a clue that we're not professionals. i've also recently been voted in to a quartet with some other penn students. i played with two of them in twelfth night back in february. apparently, they gig a fair amount, and actually make some cash. i could use some cash. definitely with the cash. yesterday i went to the library to pick up the music to their (our?) "flagship" piece, the borodin string quartet no. 1, and found that the library here only has these pansy-ass "pocket" scores. they're 5x7" scores--WAAAY too small to read comfortably. plus, it's a score, not the parts. so i've gotta do some enlarging, then some scissors-and-gluestick work on it to make it readable. like i don't have better things to do, grumble grumble. but, it's still cool to be playing regularly again.

i'm selling something on ebay for the first time. i've bought before, but never sold. i need cash!

i was organizing some digital photos on a lab computer yesterday and felicia (fellow grad student, mother of two, bane of my existence) saw a photo of me and jared that we had taken to put in ruth's memory book (ruth, as a side note, is the dept secretary, and is a *goddess*. she just retired, hence the memory book.), and made some little noise, like "oh, aren't YOU two a cute couple." (see a pic here--i'm nervous about putting up a photo of myself, so this may not stay here long. tremble. [later: yah. decided that wasn't a good idea, so i removed the link. sorry.]) but it's NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. we're JUST FRIENDS goddammit. back when john and i were together, felicia used to tell me that i was next in line (among the department women) to get pregnant. of all the nerve!
