john's 25th birthday
well, john's 25th birthday was actually 11/25, but that was the saturday after thanksgiving, and john and i were at our respective parents' houses. so, we celebrated yesterday. i took john out for dinner and games at dave and buster's. if you don't know about d&b's, you should. it's a combination restaurant/pool hall/arcade, for adults. so you can drink beer and play arcade games all at the same time. yippee!
we both had chicken fingers and criss-cross fries for dinner (after i had had 2 cookies and several mini candy bars as my only nourishment that day). we played mostly racing games, with a brief stint at shooting game and another at a fighting game. oh, and a couple games of skee-ball. after dinner we came back, and played a backgammon tournament (whoohoo!). it was after midnight by the time the game was over, and john was sleepy, and i didn't really want him to leave, so i invited him to stay. a little weird, since we broke up 3 weeks ago. he accepted, and we went to bed.
it's so nice to sleep with someone. i miss it. we wrapped ourselves in each other, warming each other up, and fell asleep. in the morning, we spent a long time in each other's arms. bittersweet. he finally said goodbye after 11 today.
laura called, well, really she "talked" to me on the computer (it's like instant messaging, only for UNIX systems). we decided to go for brunch at the white dog. she treated me, and it was lovely. i had an omelette with sausage and scalloped potatoes. and warm apple cider. yum. later this afternoon we went to the gym. it was packed. jen said something funny the other day about the constant lines for cardio machines at the gym: figures we have to go to a school where more than half of the women are anorexic--can't ever get a machine at the gym. (don't get the wrong idea: jen's an eating researcher, and is sensitive to eating disorders). anyway, had to wait 15 minutes for a machine. urg. but got it done, and even lifted weights! feels good.
